Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Digit Solo gameplay, scoring, puzzle generation, and features.
Q. What is Digit Solo?
Digit Solo is a daily mathematical puzzle game where players must reconstruct a designated Target Number using only one recurring Solo Digit and mathematical operators, aiming to use as few digits as possible.
Q. When does the daily puzzle reset?
A new daily puzzle goes live every night at 12:00 AM (Midnight) Eastern Standard Time (EST / UTC-5). All players worldwide receive the same daily challenge.
Q. What does the "Optimal Score" mean?
The optimal score is the mathematically proven minimum number of solo digits needed to reach the target number. Achieving this score grants you a "Perfect Solo" badge.
Q. How does Digit Solo calculate winning streaks?
Your streak increases by 1 each consecutive day you solve the daily puzzle. If you miss a day, your active streak resets to 0, but you can always solve archived dailies in the level selector.
Q. What is concatenation ("smushing")?
Concatenation means combining consecutive solo digits together without an operator between them to form multi-digit numbers. For example, using the digit 4 twice as "44" evaluates to the number forty-four (using only 2 digits).
Q. How do factorials work in Digit Solo?
The factorial operator (!) multiplies a positive integer by all positive integers less than it. For example, 3! = 3 × 2 × 1 = 6, and 4! = 24. Chained factorials like 3!! evaluate to (3!)! = 6! = 720.
Q. Is my game progress saved across devices?
Digit Solo saves your progress, streaks, best scores, and theme preferences directly in your browser’s local storage. No account or login is required.
Q. Is Digit Solo free to play?
Yes, Digit Solo is 100% free to play with no subscriptions, in-app purchases, or paywalls.
Q. Can I play past daily puzzles?
Yes! Click on the title header ("Digit Solo") to open the puzzle selector. You can browse and play all previous daily puzzles from our archive.
